I’m from St. Louis and loved photographing decaying and abandoned areas when I was growing up. Cementland was one of the first, lever soap factory my last. My partner at the time and I visited twice. I was astounded with the beautiful juxtaposition of natural overgrowth and urban decay. I deeply wanted the project to be finished for the public.
